Connexions is a support service for all young people aged 13-19 (up to 25 years old for young people with learning difficulties and/or disabilities).
Through Personal Advisers, Connexions offers information, advice and practical help on a range of issues, including education, employment, work-based learning, housing, health, transport, free time and money matters.
The Connexions service is designed to meet the needs of young people aged 13 to 19 and up to 25 years for those with learning difficulties and or disabilities. The aim is to help young people reach their full potential and make a successful transition into adult life. Working in partnership with private and voluntary sector groups and youth services, Connexions brings together all the services that support young people during their teenage years.
Young people can access Connexions through Personal Advisers (PA’s) in schools, colleges, outreach locations and voluntary organisations who will provide free, impartial, professional and confidential advice on a range of matters. This includes information on post 16 options, education, training and finding work as well as support around money, health, homelessness and relationships.
Connexions works with a range of local partners to deliver services to young people. As of the first of April 2010, Connexions has moved into Dudley Council and now forms part of the Directorate of Childrens Services.
