Dudley Young Advisors
Dudley is a large town in the West Midlands, with a population of 194,919. Since 1974 it has been the administrative centre of the wider Metropolitan Borough of Dudley; the original County Borough had undergone a lesser expansion in 1966. It is the 19th largest settlement in England, measured by Urban Sub-Area, the second largest town in the United Kingdom, behind Reading and the largest settlement in the UK without its own university.
Dudley, part of the West Midlands conurbation, is located south of Wolverhampton and is the largest town in the Black Country.
Connexions is a support service for all young people aged 13-19 (up to 25 years old for young people with learning difficulties and/or disabilities).
Through Personal Advisers, Connexions offers information, advice and practical help on a range of issues, including education, employment, work-based learning, housing, health, transport, free time and money matters.
Each young person has access to a Personal Adviser (PA) through their school or college, Connexions centres, community centres and other agencies across the community. Through Personal Advisers, young people receive the support that they need, to suit their individual requirements and situation.
Connexions works with a range of local partners to deliver services to young people. As of the first of April 2010, Connexions has moved into Dudley Council and now forms part of the Directorate of Childrens Services.
Dudley Community Partnership is the Local Strategic Partnership (LSP) for Dudley. Their role is to extend and improve partnership working within the Borough whilst ensuring communities are actively involved in determining service delivery. They also have a responsibility to address inequalities that exist within the Borough so as to ensure no one is disadvantaged by virtue of where they live. Working with all partners and the community, we strive to improve the quality of life for all those who live or work in the Borough.
